Jewelry with a story

Jewelry with a story

Alice & Chains Jewelry believes that jewelry should have a story. A beautiful, shiny conversation starting piece of jewelry signifies the wearer as being of good taste, but also identifies them as a storyteller - an immediate and fascinating attraction.

Historically speaking, as a species, our abilities of communication and recall set us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. Storytelling was how we passed time, shared our morals, family history, and taught new generations (and by the way, it still is). However now we no longer need to rely only upon the spoken word to tell our stories. Our stories are written in the sonnets of Shakespeare, painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, sculpted in towering metal masses in Manhattan, and now-a-days photographed and shared over and over again on social media.  Since setting eyes upon our golden sun, we have been drawn to the tiny sparkles in the sand, the shimmers in a trickling brook, the untouchable, ethereal, not-always explicable beautiful qualities of nature that we have continually built our entire world around. Whether by mimicking the colors and patterns of flowers in fabrics or by recreating the shininess of a still lake in glass, it is my belief that nature is always the original source of inspiration. Our ability to share that source of inspiration, whether now found in nature, architecture, art, or imagination adds a greater value to a piece of jewelry, design, and development. Now we can communicate not just through spoken stories, but through adornment, visual pleasure created directly from the sands of time.
